GCTV Events: Day Trip to History Shoot Featuring WWII Veteran Allen Josey of Grafton- May 4th, 2009
On Monday, May 4th, 2009, Bob DeToma, Producer and Host of the GCTV Series Day Trip To History, shot the first segments for a new feature on his program- studio interviews with combat veterans. His first interview subject was Mr. Allen Josey, who served on several Naval Vessels during WWII. Mr. Josey was kind enough to share his story with Bob, including pictures, letters, and even a restaurant menu from his time spent serving his country. The interview will be cut into several segments for upcoming episodes of Day Trip To History, so watch GCTV-11 for those episodes, expected to premiere in a few weeks.
In addition, the interview gave Bob a chance to premiere the new set he designed and built especially for these interviews. The new set features a window, curtains, a lamp, and makes use of a couch that was donated to GCTV several years ago. Below are pictures from the shoot and of the new set, which Bob has generously said that any GCTV producer is free to use.

A closer look at the set, as the cameras would see it.
A close up of the set's window- you can see that we created the appearance of daylight by putting a yellow gel on the light above, and we put the ficus trees behind the set to make it appear as if you were looking outside.
Here's a shot taken behind the set- you can see the special lighting and the ficus trees.
